Why You Should Always Verify First
Before any nurse, physical therapist, or midwife enters your home, you have the right — and the responsibility — to verify their PRC license.
A valid PRC license tells you three things: the person passed the Philippine licensure examination, they are authorized to practice their profession, and their license has not been revoked or suspended.
No PRC license means no legal authority to practice. This is not a formality — it is the baseline safety check for any licensed health professional entering your home.
The PRC LERIS Portal — The Official Source
The Professional Regulation Commission maintains the License Examination and Registration Information System (LERIS) — the official online database of all licensed professionals in the Philippines.
URL: [leris.prc.gov.ph](https://leris.prc.gov.ph)
This is the only authoritative source. Do not rely on a photo of a license card alone — licenses can be forged or expired.
Step-by-Step: How to Verify a PRC License
Step 1 — Go to the PRC LERIS portal
Open [leris.prc.gov.ph](https://leris.prc.gov.ph) on your browser.
Step 2 — Click "Verification of License"
Look for the verification or license lookup section on the homepage.
Step 3 — Enter the license number
Ask your nurse for their PRC license number. It is printed on their PRC ID card. Enter it exactly as shown.
Step 4 — Enter the professional's name
Some lookups also require the surname or first name. Enter it as it appears on their ID.
Step 5 — Check the results
The system will return:
- Full name on license
- Profession (e.g., Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist)
- License number
- Registration date
- Expiration date (if applicable)
- License status (Active, Suspended, Revoked)
Step 6 — Confirm the details match
Verify that the name, profession, and status match the person presenting themselves to you. An active license with a matching name is what you're looking for.
What a Valid Result Looks Like
A valid, active PRC license will show:
- Status: Active
- Profession: Registered Nurse (or relevant profession)
- Name: Matches the person's government ID
- Expiration: Not expired
If the status shows Suspended or Revoked — do not allow the visit to proceed. Contact VisitCare immediately at support@visitcareph.com.
Red Flags to Watch For
The nurse cannot provide a license number
Every licensed professional knows their PRC license number. Inability to provide it is a serious red flag.
Name on LERIS does not match ID
Exact spelling matters. Minor discrepancies (e.g., middle name) can happen, but the first and last name should match exactly.
License status shows Suspended or Revoked
Do not proceed. A suspended or revoked license means the PRC has removed their authority to practice.
License expired
PRC licenses for nurses are renewed every 3 years. An expired license means the holder has not completed the required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units. They are not currently authorized to practice.
Does VisitCare Check This for Me?
Yes. Every PRC-licensed health professional on VisitCare has their license number validated against PRC LERIS records as part of our 9-step VV verification process before they are allowed to accept bookings.
However, we always recommend patients verify independently as well — especially for first bookings. It takes 2 minutes and adds a layer of protection.
For TESDA-certified caregivers: TESDA certification can be verified at [tesda.gov.ph](https://tesda.gov.ph) or by requesting the NC II certificate and verifying the TESDA seal. Caregivers are not PRC-licensed and will not appear on LERIS — this is normal and correct.
